BitMEX halted trading on 23 September 2026. Withdrawals only.

They invented the contract. We keep it on Bitcoin.

The inverse perpetual BitMEX created in 2016, still running on Bitcoin: up to 100×, margin and P&L in sats, isolated or cross. Deposit over Lightning and be in a position in under a minute.

Why it’s different

Same contract. Better plumbing.

Deposit in seconds, not blocks

Fund your account over Lightning and trade immediately. Withdraw the same way when you are done. Nothing sits waiting for confirmations.

Price from three exchanges, not one

Your fills, funding and liquidations run on a weighted basket of Binance, Bybit and OKX. One venue's wick cannot hunt your stop. You fill at the price you see.

Bitcoin only, sats in and sats out

No stablecoin leg, no fiat rail. Margin, P&L and fees are all in sats, exactly like an inverse contract should be. Your balance is bitcoin the whole time.

Moving over

Three steps, one coffee

  1. 01

    Withdraw from BitMEX

BitMEX asks users to withdraw remaining balances as soon as possible. Send it straight to your LN Markets deposit address, or to your own wallet first if you prefer.

  2. 02

    Create your LN Markets account

    Email and password. That’s it.

  3. 03

Deposit and open your first position

Pay a Lightning invoice and the sats land in seconds, or send on-chain if you prefer.

FAQ

Questions BitMEX traders are asking

Full contract specifications and fees are in the docs.

Is BitMEX really closed?

Yes. BitMEX announced its wind-down on 23 July 2026 and halted trading, deposits and new positions on 23 September 2026. Accounts stay open for withdrawals only. Details are on bitmex.com/wind-down.

Can I move my BitMEX balance to LN Markets?

Withdraw your BTC from BitMEX to a wallet you control, then deposit on LN Markets over Lightning, on-chain or Liquid. A BitMEX BTC withdrawal can go straight to your LN Markets on-chain deposit address, no intermediate wallet needed.

What is the closest thing to XBTUSD?

The BTCUSD inverse perpetual. One contract is one US dollar, margin and P&L are in sats, leverage goes up to 100×, isolated or cross margin, funding every 8 hours. The payoff formula is the same inverse formula you traded on BitMEX.

Where does the price come from?

A weighted basket of BTC/USD perpetuals on Binance, Bybit and OKX. Fills, take profits, stop losses and liquidations all trigger on the basket.

What are the fees?

One trading fee on open and close, 0.10% of notional by default, falling to 0.08%, 0.07% and 0.06% as your 30-day volume grows. Funding is passed through from the reference markets with no spread added.

Is there an API for my bots?

Yes. A REST API and a websocket stream for prices, positions and orders, with scoped API keys. You can test everything on Signet.
